ASA Announces M1 Emergency License Server Software
M1 Emergency License Server™ enables M1 Waveform Tools™ users to instantly transfer licenses between production test system waveform-gathering platforms to eliminate downtime due to instrument failure.
Amherst, MA USA.... June 4, 2014
Amherst Systems Associates Inc (ASA Corp.) today announced the release of M1 Emergency License Server (M1 ELS™), a new companion product to M1 Waveform Tools (M1WT™) that provides an ‘on the shelf’ emergency instant license transfer capability. M1 ELS will eliminate delays or downtime when an instrument (oscilloscope or digitizer) needs repair, calibration or replacement – keeping your test stand working, even if the replacement platform is from a different manufacturer.
M1 ELS uses a token system to enable the transfer of an existing M1WT license from one waveform platform to another, either temporarily for up to 45 days or permanently. Additional tokens can be added at any time, with a 60% discount applied when replacing a token that was used for a temporary transfer. Each token enables a single M1WT license to be transferred to any supported platform that is at an equal or lower M1 Software Level to the original platform.
A second token class for M1 ELS will be released shortly which allows not just transferring to a lateral or lower M1 Software Level, but to any arbitrary oscilloscope or digitizer system. These higher-urgency tokens will be priced at $5000 each and allow the use of any platform, even those in licensing classes for which the user had not initially paid.
Mike Williams, President and Principal Product Designer for the M1 product family, noted "ASA has always put the needs of our customers as our top priority in providing valuable products and services for the testing industry. Production systems require proper emergency and backup procedures to minimize the risk and cost of unnecessary delays. We have seen time and time again high-value test stands come to a screeching halt and persist in that state for days or even weeks when an exact copy of a particular scope model and loadout is not immediately available. M1’s intrinsic hardware abstraction already makes the test stand insensitive to the test executive not being able to deal with a different model or loadout. M1 ELS eliminates any delays created by relicensing new hardware and is a key complementary product enabling test stands and automation testing to react to unplanned platform issues, even if an exact copy of the affected platform is not available. The advantage of the M1 hardware abstraction architecture is that it eliminates all dependencies on specific platforms, manufacturers, and brands, and with M1 ELS we can assure our customers that using M1 Waveform Tools in an ATE environment will provide the maximum protection against any threat to production downtime.”
U.S. Availability and Pricing
M1 Emergency License Server is available now. Pricing is $2250 for M1 ELS and includes initial setup and the first transfer token. Additional tokens can be purchased starting at $600. For more information, please see www.M1OT.com/m1els.
