ASA's founder Mike Williams spend decades immersed in the practice of clock & timing engineering.  The M1 tools were actually created to help him isolate and understand timing faults in client systems more rapidly, and ASA was initially Mike and his briefcase travelling around the world to solve difficult clock distribution and reception problems for his clients.  Over these decades, ASA has made numerous significant contributions to Clock and Timing engineering methodology that are the basis for how synchronous system tolerance management is practiced today industry-wide. At one time, ASA was Hewlett-Packard/Agilent's standard resource for assisting their own customers with difficult technical problems in this area.
